The Nitrogen product Anhydrous Ammonia and Urea Ammonium Nitrate (UAN) that is distributed from our Marseilles facility is crucial to plants nourishment and fundamental to life on the planet. Marseilles also distributes Potash which is required by crops to regulate growth processes, activate enzymes involved in plant growth and help protect crops from drought and disease. The Marseilles facility was originally built by C & I Girdler in 1963 as a large manufacturing complex.  It was originally designed for a 350 ton a day Nitric Acid plant and a 200 ton a day Ammonium Nitrate plant.  The site was geared towards making 300,000 tons of solution a year.  The complex has 2 docks, a dry dock and a liquid dock. There was also a large rail yard where Urea Ammonium Nitrate Solution and Anhydrous Ammonia were loaded and shipped out.  In the mid 1980’s the manufacturing portion facility was shutdown. In the early 1990’s the manufacturing portion of the facility was dismantled and sold to a company in Pryor, Oklahoma. The Rail Yard was removed in the early 90’s.

Agrium acquired the Marseilles terminal officially October, 2006.  Since that date the terminal has began to renovate and rebuild the facility.

Today, the Marseilles site has over 40,000 tons of Ammonia storage and 40,000 tons of Urea Ammonium Nitrate (UAN) solution storage.  There is also a 13,000 ton Dry bulk warehouse for Potash and a Bag warehouse that is 37,500 square feet in size.  The terminal receives Ammonia and Solution by barges. The plant has 2 docks, 1 dry dock and 1 liquid dock, located on the Illinois River.
